I chose this image for this particular theme because the visual is subtly jarring. My eye is immediately drawn to the fairly sharp zigzag street reflection of the mirror. I always get the feeling like I want to see what’s around the bend in the road. Still, if I pull back and look at the rest of the image, the jagged foreground branches slowly get lost into the fuzzy tree background cementing the idea of shallow depth of field. It’s a sort of visual dysfunction where the background is both the focal point and almost completely insignificant at the same time.
